If there’s one thing I absolutely love in my home, it’s hanging plants! With limited floor space and two kids taking over every available corner, I’ve found that hanging planters are the perfect solution. They let me enjoy all the greenery I desire without sacrificing any usable surfaces.
Our bay window is an ideal spot for my growing plant collection. Almost any plant I place there thrives, adding a splash of color to the room. However, we face a challenge due to the lack of an entryway in our house. This area often doubles as storage for the stroller and quickly fills up with bags and coats. As a result, the plants on the windowsill often have to compete for space with a lively toddler, leading to a few unfortunate casualties.
To solve this problem, I created a simple hanging bar that provides the height, space, and light my plants need. Using screw-in hooks and a straightforward length of wood dowel, the project was quick and easy. All that was left to do was craft some planters for the plants to hang in.
I decided to use a Wool and the Gang kit for my planters. Not only do these kits teach you a new technique, but they also come with high-quality materials. I was initially concerned that the raffia yarn would be stiff and uncomfortable to work with, but it turned out to be surprisingly soft. Just unboxing it revealed its lovely texture and quality—ideal for crocheting!
Even if you’ve never picked up a crochet hook before, this project is totally doable. It’s perfect for beginners, using a simple stitch that will have you crafting like a pro in no time. The kit includes all the instructions you need, ensuring you’ll learn everything required. Plus, you’ll end up with a beautiful planter you’ll be proud to display in your home!
